Ahhhhh its Capt'n Cook allegedly brewing a beer for his crew
Mr Speight himself, all the way from the UK, how dapper he looks

Late start as I had booked myself into the Speight's brewery tour for 12 noon. Great chat over breakfast with Jane, Yvonne and Dexter, walked part the way into town with Jane who was off to work in a chinese restaurant. She got excited that the three numbers on my hire car were the same as hers back home. Had been pulling her leg about what is her pride and joy.
Speight's brewery: Pride of the South since 1876. Rather funny really as all very similar to tours in the UK for the type of equipment used but the focus was on Captain Cook and a couple of other characters, also aligned to the macho image of the 'cowboy' in the south isle. Hold on, been all around the island and not seen one single cowboy!!!! Ah well the power of advertising. Able to pull your own ale so sampled a couple but had to be careful as was driving in the afternoon. I did enjoy the three beers I had, to me much better than a lager.
Popped back into Ramsey Lodge for the car and said my goodbyes to Yvonne - again!!!
Drove up to Omaru and booked into the Empire Hotel, Magda from Ramsey Lodge was there and had a brief chat. Found it very easy to talk to all the Asian people but Europeans - god they are difficult at times.
As it was dusk went round to the blue penguin colony and watched about 100 birds come back to the nesting site. Not allowed to photo although if you go looking around the beach area then you may strike lucky. If you do photo it has to be without flash as this could easily blind them apparently. Flora went looking and saw 4 blue penguins on the 6th.
